Instead of a late yearly update I'll be posting a few of my most listened songs of 2021. Most of these have already been posted on my main account under the #MV tag but there are a few I've never posted.

Feel free to reply and tag @cptn@idolheaven.org if you want to post your favorite songs of the year or give some recommendations.

It's been over a year since this post and the only thing I've learned about coding is I have no business coding. I'm going to blame that on laziness and my nonexistent attention span. I'm still going to set another goal this year of learning some basics.

It’s been a surprisingly eventful year so far. I’ve tried to branch out and learn about some more idols but I keep finding myself following the same groups I’ve been following. There have been a few additions but they consist of members of former groups I’ve followed.

There are multiple youtube channels with

transfers

Usa Hiiragi (ex monogatari) joined Babababambi, Otoha & Kohane (ex Konyanko & Runup!!) have joined Repi Doll, and

  • Usa Hirragi (ex monogatari) –> Babababambi
  • Otoha & Kohane Seko (ex Konyanko & Runup!!) –> Repi Doll
  • Haruka Kurasawa (ex monogatgari) –> Nonfic
  • Kae & Rin Sakura (ex Runup!!) –> MewEnow

Nina quit

Nina leaving the idol industry was perhaps the most difficult event for me this year.

2020 had a somber start after monogatari announced they would be disbanding. Shortly after, COVID-19 and the resulting lockdowns put a halt to almost all activities for several months. Nonetheless, my year following idols was a very pleasant one. I was fortunate enough to not be negatively affected by the lockdowns, which allowed for more time to follow and discover idols.

One of my goals for the second half of 2020 is to finally start learning how to write some code. An increasing majority of the software I currently use on a daily basis is written in go so I'll probably try go first. It's very easy to build and run, as well as portable so I can run the built executables on my seedbox without the need for installing dependencies that require root. I've met some very friendly devs who have written some site scrapers and discord bots in go for me in the past, but I've been very reliant on others to do the work for me. By the end of the year I hope to have at least one useful thing, even if it's simple, written in go.

Here is a list of my favorite software written in go that I use almost on a daily basis:

  • rclone – Cloud file transfer and file management
  • statping – Web services status page
  • linx-server – Pastebin and file host
  • gonic – Subsonic server in go
  • gitea – Github alternative
  • yeetgif – gif editor/manipulator
  • writefreely – Blogging platform on the fediverse: You're here now
  • andesite – Authentication based file directory
  • hugo – Static site generator
  • caddy – Reverse proxy / HTTP file server
  • syncthing – File syncing
  • oragono – IRC Server
  • dispatch – IRC Web Client
  • statping – IRC/Discord Alternative

Honorable mention:

  • annie – A youtube-dl alternative. I haven't found any excuses to not use youtube-dl so I haven't used this apart from testing a few video files.

If you have any other interesting tools let me know at @cptn@idolheaven.org on the fediverse.

2019 was another wonderful year for immersion into jpop groups. The groups from my favorites post are still the same and some additions through the year are Tokyo Girls' Style, Rising/Zero-IV, Pastel Candy.
